RenoStride

Privacy Policy

Last updated:

RenoStride is an app for remodeling contractors, made by VELNA LLC, a Florida limited liability company based in Miami, Florida ("we", "us"). This policy explains what information RenoStride and renostride.com handle, where it goes and what we do with it. Questions? Email support@renostride.com.

The short version

1. What this policy covers

2. Your job data stays with you

Everything you enter in the app is stored in your browser's storage on your device: clients, jobs, room sizes, estimates, proposals, signatures, change orders, schedules, payments, expenses, materials, invoices, job photos, your business details and your rates.

If you connect your Google account, the app also saves a copy in a private RenoStride folder in your Google Drive, and job photos are saved there too. That keeps your jobs in step across your devices and gives you a backup.

We (VELNA LLC) don't receive, store or have access to your job data. It moves only between your device and Google, except for what you send with the Pro tools described in section 7 and the Back Office features described in section 8.

When you email a proposal, change order or invoice to a client, or text or email a review request, the app hands it to your own mail or messages app, and it goes from your own account. It doesn't pass through us.

You can export everything to Excel at any time in Settings. The QuickBooks export creates files on your device; you decide whether to upload them to QuickBooks.

Information you enter about your clients, including their signatures, is stored the same way. You're responsible for having your clients' permission to keep their contact details in your business records.

3. How RenoStride uses your Google account

Connecting Google is your choice. When you connect, Google shows you what RenoStride asks for, and you can say no. RenoStride requests these permissions:

Permission What RenoStride does with it
Your email address and Google account ID (openid, email) Shows which Google account is connected and makes sure later sign-ins use the same account, so your backup never goes to another account.
See, create and delete its own data in your Google Drive (drive.appdata) Saves and reads the backup of your RenoStride data (including your access code), and your job photos, in a hidden folder that belongs only to RenoStride. It can't see, open or change any other file in your Drive.

4. When you buy RenoStride

Payments for RenoStride, the RenoStride Pro upgrade and the RenoStride Back Office subscription are processed by Stripe. You enter your card or wallet details on Stripe's checkout page, and we never see or store your full card number. From Stripe we receive your name, email address, billing country and postal code (if you give them), what you bought, the amount and the payment status.

We use this to send your access code and receipt, to turn Pro on for your code when you upgrade, to help with support and refunds, to prevent fraud, and to keep the records that tax and accounting laws require.

Your access code is sent by email through an email delivery service that sends messages for us. We keep a record of which code was issued for which purchase.

Stripe's own handling of your information is described in Stripe's privacy policy.

Back Office subscription. Stripe bills Back Office and keeps your payment method to charge the renewals; we never see your full card number. From Stripe we receive your email address, the plan, the subscription's status and dates, and its payments. With your access code we keep the plan, the status, the end of the current period, the payments and the emails we sent you about the subscription. When you start Back Office, we also keep a record of your agreement to its renewal terms: the access code and the order it belongs to, the plan, the version of the terms shown to you, whether it started with a free trial and the first-charge date shown, the time, your time zone (as your browser reports it, so the dates in our emails are your dates), the checkout session, and a scrambled (one-way hashed) form of your IP address. A copy of that record is also kept with the subscription in Stripe. We use all this to run your subscription, to tell the app whether Back Office is on, to send you the emails about it, and to show that you agreed to the renewal terms.

When a purchase of RenoStride is complete, we also report it to Meta to measure our ads, as described in section 9. The Pro upgrade and Back Office aren't reported to Meta. If you arrived from one of our ads or links, the campaign tags from that link are saved with your order in Stripe, so we know which ad worked.

5. Your access code

The app checks your access code on your device, so it works without internet. The code is saved on your device so you don't have to enter it again.

If you connect Google, the app also keeps your access code in RenoStride's hidden folder in your own Google Drive, next to your backup, so that Sign in with Google on a new or cleared device can bring it back. It goes only between your device and your Google account; we don't receive it this way. Forget this code (Settings › Access code) removes it from there.

When the app is online, it checks in with our server when it opens or comes back to the screen, at most about once an hour. It sends your access code, a random ID that the app creates for this device (it isn't tied to your name, your phone number or the device's hardware), the kind of device (for example "iPhone · installed app") and the app version. For each code, our server keeps the devices it was used on and when each was first and last seen. When a device signs out, is removed or gives its place to another device, the server notes when that happened. We use this to know whether a purchased code is in use, to tell the app whether the code has Pro or Back Office, to apply the limit of 5 devices per code (10 with RenoStride Pro), to help you when you write to support, and to turn a code off after a refund or a chargeback, or when we replace it with a new one. When a code is turned off, the app stops opening at its next check-in. Your job data stays on your device, and you can still export it to Excel. Nothing about your jobs, clients or Google account is sent.

When you use Ask a question, the app sends your access code along with your question, so our server can confirm the question comes from a customer and count the daily limit.

6. Support and Ask a question

When you email us, we receive your email address and what you write, and we keep the conversation so we can help you.

Ask a question (built-in AI help). When you ask, the app sends what you type in the chat, the earlier messages of that chat, your access code and the kind of device you use (for example "iPhone · installed app") to our support server. The server sends your messages to our AI provider, Anthropic, which writes an answer from RenoStride's help articles. Under its commercial terms, Anthropic may not train its models on what we send it.

7. RenoStride Pro tools

AI tools. When you use Rooms from a floor plan, Receipts by photo or Describe the work, the app sends what you give that tool to our server: the floor plan (a PDF or a picture), the receipt (a photo or a PDF), or the description you dictated or typed together with the names of the work items in your price list and the rooms of that job. It also sends your access code. Our server sends the plan, receipt or description to our AI provider, Anthropic, to read it, and the result comes back to the app. We don't store the files or the text. Our server keeps a record of each use (the tool, the time, a scrambled form of your access code and the amount of AI processing) to apply the monthly limits. Under its commercial terms, Anthropic may not train its models on what we send it.

Dictating uses the speech recognition built into your browser or device, run by its maker (for example Google in Chrome or Apple in Safari) under its own privacy terms. Only the text then goes to our server.

Link to sign. When you send a proposal by link, the app puts a copy of that one proposal on our server: what your client sees, such as your business details, your client's name and address, the work, the prices and the options. Nothing else from the job is sent. Anyone who has the link can open it, so send it only to your client. When your client signs, our server records the option they pick, the name they type, their signature, the date and time, and their IP address and browser details, and your app picks the signature up. A link works for 30 days. A signed copy is deleted 30 days after signing; if your app hasn't picked up the signature by then, only the signature waits for it, at most 90 days after signing. If you withdraw a link, only a note that it was withdrawn stays until its 30 days end.

8. RenoStride Back Office

Bank and card connections. When bookkeeping is available and you connect a bank account or a card, the connection runs through Stripe Financial Connections: you sign in to your bank through Stripe, never through us, and Stripe's privacy policy applies. We keep only the ids of the connected accounts. Once a day our server asks Stripe for new transactions and passes them to your app, which keeps them on your device and in your Google Drive with the rest of your books. Transactions aren't stored on our server. You can disconnect a bank in the app at any time.

AI sorting of transactions. To suggest a Schedule C line and a job for a transaction, the app sends its description, amount and date, with the names of your jobs, to our server, which sends them to our AI provider, Anthropic. The suggestion comes back to the app; we don't store the text. When you use Ask your numbers, your question and a summary of your jobs and books go the same way to get the answer, and aren't stored either. Under its commercial terms, Anthropic may not train its models on what we send it.

Signature certificates. When a document is signed with Back Office, our server keeps the audit record behind its signature certificate: the signer's name, when they signed, the device and its IP address, the email address and phone number the document was sent to, and a fingerprint (a one-way hash) of the document. The document itself isn't kept. We keep these records for 7 years after signing, so you and your client can show later who signed what and when.

Reminders and requests by link. When Back Office sends a message for you, such as a payment reminder to a client or a request to a sub for a waiver, a W-9 or a certificate of insurance, our server holds what that message needs (the name, email address, amount and due date) until it's sent, and what your sub sends back goes to your app.

9. Our website and hosting

renostride.com and app.renostride.com are hosted by Hostinger. Like any web server, it records technical details of each visit (IP address, browser type, the page requested and the time) in server logs used for security and to keep the service running.

Meta Pixel and Conversions API (website only). We advertise RenoStride on Facebook and Instagram. To see which ads lead to visits and purchases, and to show our ads to people who are more likely to need RenoStride, our website renostride.com uses the Meta Pixel and the Meta Conversions API, tools from Meta Platforms, Inc.

Microsoft Clarity (website only). We use Microsoft Clarity to see how visitors use our website: pages viewed, scrolling and clicks, including session recordings and heatmaps. Text you type is masked. Microsoft collects this data using cookies and similar technologies under the Microsoft Privacy Statement. Browsers that send a Global Privacy Control signal do not load Clarity. The app at app.renostride.com doesn’t use Clarity.

The app loads its fonts from Google Fonts, so Google receives your IP address and browser details when the fonts load. Connecting Google runs through Google's own sign-in service.

10. How long we keep information

11. Your choices and rights

You can ask us what information we hold about you (purchase, subscription and support records), ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it, unless the law requires us to keep it. Email support@renostride.com from the address you used to buy.

Your job data is under your control: you can erase it on a device in Settings and delete the backup in Google Drive as described above.

We don't sell personal information. Some U.S. state laws, such as California's, treat ad measurement through tools like the Meta Pixel as "sharing" personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. You can opt out of it with Global Privacy Control or the other choices in section 9.

12. Children

RenoStride is a tool for businesses and isn't meant for children. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 13.

13. Security

Connections to renostride.com and app.renostride.com use HTTPS. Your job data isn't stored on our servers, so there's no central database of it to break into. Protect your devices with a passcode and your Google account with 2-Step Verification.

14. Changes

If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top. If a change affects how we use Google user data or other personal information in a meaningful way, we'll show a notice on the website and in the app before it takes effect.
